Atletico Madrid and Malaga are reportedly considering making a late bid to sign Chelsea striker Fernando Torres.
Torres has largely failed to impress at Stamford Bridge following his £50million move from Liverpool last January, although he has looked brighter since returning for pre-season than he did in the second half of last season.
Reports back in the Spring had suggested that Roman Abramovich and then-manager Carlo Ancelotti were considering dumping the 27-year-old after he went more than 900 minutes before scoring a goal.
But Abramovich instead opted to get rid of Ancelotti and appeared to be ready to give Torres have another chance to impress.
But according to FootyBunker, the Russian could be given the opportunity to cash in on the Spain international, with both former club Atletico and Malaga reportedly interested in the forward.
According to the report, the Spanish outfits are considering either a late bid for Torres before the transfer window closes on Wednesday night, or more likely, when teams can once again buy and sell players next January.
Of the two, Malaga would be the more likely side to be able to fund a bid, although the report claims they are prepared to try and pursuade Chelsea to sell for just £20m.
Atletico recently signed Radamel Falcao from Porto and it is unclear whether they are looking to add another forward to their squad.
While Torres is highly unlikely to leave Stamford Bridge this week, a January deal could be a possibility.
The signing of Juan Mata from Valencia last week was partly made in a bid to create more chances for Torres, and that is a big reason why Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas is so keen on signing Luka Modric.
But if 'AVB' brings in the players he believes can provide ammunition for Torres, and the Spaniard continues to disappoint, then a January move perhaps shouldn't be completely ruled out.
